Hopes and Dreams

Nervous didn’t begin to describe how Tiffani felt as her anticipation grew waiting for Bruce. She busied herself with household chores and even took a shower, which she normally didn’t do at night. But she wanted to be fresh and clean for him, which put thoughts in her head that traveled down between her thighs.

Next she drove herself crazy trying to decide what to wear. Wearing daytime clothes seemed dumb. It’d be after eleven o’clock at night when Bruce arrived, and they both had to work tomorrow, so she wasn’t expecting a late night.

She pulled out a silky negligee before promptly tossing it back in the drawer. Seduction wasn’t on the agenda. If they were letting nature take its course, she needed it to be natural.

Instead of a silky gown she put on her usual bedtime ensemble, a cotton T-shirt nightgown and a pair of fuzzy socks. She’d acquired the socks the other day at Seaton’s Flower Shop. She had only stopped in to look at Christmas decorations. Of course, Louise had grilled her about Bruce. Tiffani wasn’t about to lie, so she’d happily admitted they were indeed dating.

Louise had flipped, doing her silly little jig. Tiffani had giggled like a schoolgirl, and before she knew it, Louise had changed the topic to wedding talk. Tiffani had embraced every minute of Louise fawning over her. In fact, she’d loved it. It’d been a long time since someone in town showed her real kindness.

It was after all of Louise’s excitement and talk of a spring wedding that Tiffani had spotted the pink, striped fuzzy socks. She hadn’t worn pink since high school. Weirdly, the ultra-feminine, cutesy socks had called to her. Now, as she looked down at her feet, she felt soft and girly.

A knock on the door made her freeze. “Tiffani, it’s me,” Bruce announced.

She ran on her tiptoes to the entry but first did a once-over of herself in the mirror on the wall. No makeup or curled hair. Au naturel was what Bruce would get. Hopefully, she didn’t disappoint him.

Turning the bolt and removing the chain, she exhaled a deep breath. Wiggy nerves had never been a thing before, but being with Bruce was new, and it made her nervous as hell.

“Hi.” She swung the door open, smiling brightly as her stomach did a hippity-hop jig that would put Louise to shame.

Bruce didn’t say anything, taking her all in from head to toe. He lingered on her socks for several seconds. She tried not to move away or run to her room to remove the socks. This was her. Either he liked her just the way she was or he learned to accept fuzzy socks.

“Love your pink socks.” He stepped toward her, cupped her cheeks, and kissed her deeply. He kicked the door and it closed behind them as he walked her backwards.

He loves the socks!

Tiffani tasted mint and smelled a fresh, clean soapy scent. So he’d gone home to tend to Wallace and showered. Nice. Bruce had never been a fussy man.
